Praha – Hnutí Nový německý film není českému divákovi zdaleka tak známé jako více méně souběžně vzniklá Francouzská nová vlna. A ze všech jeho představitelů v paměti možná rezonují Werner Herzog, Volker Schlöndorff, Wim Wenders či Rainer Werner Fassbinder, jméno Alexandera Klugeho však zůstává prakticky zapomenuté. Přitom právě on byl předním teoretikem hnutí a i jeho dílo, jež se zdaleka neomezuje jen na oblast filmu, je rozsahem nejpočetnější.
It is not uncommon to find artists who came to film from work in other mediums. Some are painters turned filmmakers, while others turned to film from work in theater or writing. German filmmaker Alexander Kluge’s path to film was as strikingly different as his work continues to prove itself. Just having turned 80 years old, Kluge is as radical as ever, and could still serve as a signpost for the young generation of filmmakers.

Prag, so heißt es, ist immer eine Reise Wert. Die „Goldene Stadt“ steht Mitte Mai ganz im Zeichen eines der großen deutschen Regisseure, Produzenten und Schriftsteller: Alexander Kluge.
Anfang des Jahres feierte Kluge seinen 80. Geburtstag und so scheint es auf der Hand zu liegen, dass er auch international gefeiert wird. Die Prager Akademie der Bildenden Künste widmet sich ihm vom 17. bis 19. Mai mit einer Retrospektive und zeigt ein chronologisches Programm aus seiner Filmographie, einige Interviews und Fernsehwerke.

For ten years our programs have been airing on RTL and Sat 1. Those are the
two main private stations which have been around from the very start, one
run by the Kirch group from Southern Germany, the other one from Northern
Germany by Bertelsmann and CLT. As a neutral, independent third party one
can only take the stance of an unarmed independent. That’s why our cultural
